The spark notes version is I am a wife, a mom to two sweet babies (and two sweet furbabies too), a photographer based in Raleigh, NC, and I honestly still can’t believe this is my job. 13 year old Jill would be so proud. I could spend the next several paragraphs boring you with the minuscule details about the unconventional path I took to get here, but I’ll try to make this quick. It was spring of 2018 and I found myself sobbing in the drive-thru of In-n-Out (IYKYK) while on vacation in California. My husband, Tom, and I eloped on the mossy, lava rock covered mountains of Iceland several weeks earlier and we received a lengthy sneak peek from our photographer and I could not stop crying - I’ll never forget how I felt. I looked at Tom and said “I want to make someone feel like this.” And that was the push that I needed to make all my middle school dreams of wanting to become a photographer come true.

Once I stopped trying to fit my clients into a perfectly posed box with ideal lighting conditions and pinterest-worthy outfits, I really found myself as an artist. Nothing scares me as a photographer anymore - I’m just here to capture you, as you are; to immerse myself into the tiny moments of your every day and capture it: poetically and honestly. How did I become so lucky to call this my job?
These moments are fleeting, but the memories don’t have to be.
If that perfect golden hour is for you, count me in. I can’t resist it either. But I also welcome full sun with the bluest skies for your baby who won’t make it to sunset or the darkness of your home because it’s well lived in and full of cozy love.
I don’t use presets on editing anymore because your story isn’t a one size fits all - it has it’s own plot full of emotion and authenticity and my approach is to capture that honestly from the moment we capture it to editing on the back end and delivering your final gallery. Your story is yours and if I’m lucky enough to capture part of it then it’s because you fully trust me to create + document freely.
